Solving the Problem

Problem
There is a lack of good classic breakfast places located in the surrounding area of the University of Florida campus. A lot of people in an environment like this eat breakfast every day. They want good family-style breakfast meals, but they have no where to find them.

Solution
Being from New Jersey, I am familiar with some very good breakfast foods. For example, everyone's favorite breakfast sandwich: the Pork Roll Egg and Cheese. I think the lack of good breakfast places can be solved through my idea of opening up a bagel shop that specializes in pork roll egg and cheeses. The bagels would be shipped from Brooklyn, where my favorite bagel is made. The pork roll would be shipped from New Jersey, one of the few states to sell it. I think this business would thrive in a college campus environment, especially down south.

  1. Hey CJ,

I too thought of opening a food related business I think we both agree Gainesville could use a bit more variety in what they have to offer. I have never actually tried a Pork Roll Egg and Cheese, if you ever do open up your bagel shop I would for sure give it a try. I do suggest you think about other New Jersey breakfast exclusives as I think people like to try new food and it would set you apart from the competition.

  2. CJ,
Your business idea seems a little flawed. How would it be profitable for a business to ship all of their groceries from nearly halfway across the country. Additionally, the bagels would not stay fresh and would easily become stale. While I do love a good pork roll egg and cheese bagel sandwich, there are a lot of things that could go wrong for your business.

  3. I'd like to see a little more info. I'm not sure that opening a bagel shop classifies somewhere as a "family style breakfast". I definitely understand people loving certain foods, and shipping some bagels from Brooklyn could certainly be done but would be costly. I definitely think this idea is something that would be profitable in a college town...just expand on it a little bit more.
