Unfair Advantage

List:

  1. Knowledge about Pork Roll Egg and Cheese: I am from New Jersey, the home of this delicious breakfast sandwich. I know that it will be a hit here down south.
  2. My friend's dad (restaurant owner): mMy friend's dad has experience in the restaurant business. I can use his advice and experience to my advantage.
  3. My mom: My mom has owned her own business for a while. She has a lot of experience in customer service. I can use that to my advantage.
  4. My dad's friend (similar venture): My dad's friend had a similar venture where he brought New York pizza to Nebraska. I can use his knowledge about this process to my advantage.
  5. Imported bread from New York: Not many Floridians know the difference between their water and NY water. NY water is much better, making the bread much better. I will use this to my advantage. Cannot be copied by others.
  6. Money: I have enough financial capital to start this business venture. I will not get into specifics in this department.
  7. Location: I plan to put my shop somewhere on campus. This way it will draw a lot of attention.
  8. Meal Plan: I am going to allow students to use meal plan to purchase food from my shop. This will allow more people to afford the food, which means more profit.
  9. Originality: My product that I will be providing is different. Pork roll is only in NJ, so bringing it here will be interesting to see. Cannot be copied by others.
  10. Family Style: There are no family style breakfast places around and other people agree. Therefore, I will bring one to campus. Cannot be copied by others.
My top resource is definitely the fact that my bread will be imported from New York. I don't think people recognize how big the difference is in water quality. Good water makes good bread. Being that NY has the best water, I will have the best bread. This will separate me the most from others in this business venture.

  1. Cj,
Your unfair advantage blog was very productive it looks like. I can see that both me and you have similar advantages through networking, our parents, and money. This allows entrepreneurs like ourselves to get a head start on our competitors. Very good.

  2. Hey CJ,
I think that you chose the perfect resource to be your number one because that is what sets you apart the most. While there are very limited options for breakfast places here in Gainesville, there still is some competition like KeKe's, Maple Street, Dunkin, Ihop, and a few others. Having something else that sets you apart from the rest such as the ingredients you use will give you a huge advantage over the competition. The style of food you are going to serve is extremely different from the other breakfast places around here which definitely gives you an advantage.
